The Call of the Church
The Call of the Church – The Lord wants us to build a church of forgiven people. Forgiveness is a lifestyle that allows us to be the victor and not the victim, even when all we can afford is our tears.
We are made to need love and acceptance, thus one of the most prominent tools at the enemy’s disposal is rejection. Rejection is a an evil force designed to hinder us in this life, to block our humility. Rejection comes from shame felt when we don’t measure up to the expectations of others. The power of both life and death exist in the tongue and many of us will find it easier to believe a lie from the enemy, rather than the truth from God.
Pastor Johnny of Celebration Church in Fairhope, AL reminded us this morning that love and forgiveness are not feelings, they are choices and that knowledge is not power but rather a responsibility. We have been given the responsibility to live a life that is holy, where we make every effort to live in peace with everyone. Dysfunction in our lives can only exist in the absence of discipline and discipline is far less difficult in the shadow of the Father, than it is running away from him.
There are 3 traps of rejection that we must guard against:
1. Pride & Control
2. Lust
3. Materialism
We have the choice to overcome the traps of the enemy or wallow in dysfunction. We can choose to hope against hope, to honor and value one another and to show our gratitude by giving back through praise. Bitterness is the chain of rejection and the gift of the Holy Spirit can set us free from ourselves. Peace, Love and Transparency puts the broken back together to live a life restored.
