Historic Fort Morgan

If you are looking for a place to visit on your vacation in the Gulf Coast, look no further than Fort Morgan Historical State Park in Gulf Shores, Alabama. One of the best kept secrets on the Alabama Gulf Coast, Fort Morgan offers an amazing experience for the whole family and is a live history lesson.

One of the most amazing features of the fort is that unlike most historical sites that are sectioned off and guided by a strict tour, Fort Morgan allows you to take on the tour yourself. You have almost complete access to the entire fort and can explore at your own pace. From the panoramic view of the ocean and the bay, to the original brickwork in the tunnels surrounding the fort, you can spend hours exploring this historical site. You may even see a school of dolphins swimming by Dauphin Island!

Built in 1834, Fort Morgan has withstood four wars: the Civil War, Spanish-American War, and World War 1 and 2. The majority of the fort is still in original condition minus a few war wounds. It was most famous for the Battle of Mobile Bay where the union admiral David Farragut had his most famous command, “Damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead!” You can learn more of these interesting facts at the on-site Historical Museum.

You don’t want to miss out on an unforgettable experience at Fort Morgan. Feel like you are transported back in time with tons of family fun at Fort Morgan Historical State Park.
