Jason: When you guys were shopping for homes in Pelham, how did you know this one was THE one?

Seller: The second we walked in and were greeted by the 20’ ceilings, open floor plan, light coming through the windows, and views of the pool and peaceful woods behind the home.

Jason: Were schools a factor at all in the decision?

Seller: No schools were not factor for us, as my company moves us around pretty frequently and our little ones are not yet school age.  That said, the public school system in Pelham is excellent.

Jason: What’s your favorite lifestyle features of the home?

Seller: My wife and I lover sitting on the sundeck by the pool enjoying an evening cocktail, watching the deer come up to the feeder.  I have a really nice home office and it’s also my favorite spot to enjoy my morning coffee.  I’m a huge bourbon fan, so having our own bar upstairs is pretty cool.  The seclusion and peacefulness of only having one neighbor currently, makes us feel like we have our own, semi-private backyard oasis. My wife is also a huge fan of our high ceilings and open floor plan, which make it an ideal home for hosting parties or hosting family over the holidays.

Jason: What spaces do you and your family utilize the most?

Seller: We find ourselves out back most of the time or on the first floor.  The main level has everything we need and you can see everything from one spot, which is a mus with two little ones always on the go. If my kids were older it would probably be the bar room while they played in the spare playroom.

Jason: Have you made any improvements to the home?

Seller: We turned the spare room downstairs into an office with grey iron ore paint, life proof hardwood floors, and nice trim work.  We completed the 450 square foot unfinished room over the garage and converted the space into our bar.   In the bar room, we added hardwood flooring, a custom ceiling, a wet bar, and floating shelves.  There was a closet frame out in the room, since we were putting a bar in the room we widened the closet and turned it into a full bathroom instead with custom finishes.

Jason: Is there good grocery shopping options conveniently located nearby?

Seller: Yes, we have two Publix locations close to home that we frequent.

Jason: Anything fun to do in the Ballantrae?

Seller: We walk daily around the neighborhood, to include hiking behind the house up on the ridgetop.  The playground is hidden down the street.  We don’t use the neighborhood pool since our home has one.  Sadly, with a young family and super busy career, I have not had much spare time to enjoy the course at the Ballantrae Golf Club.

Jason: What will y’all miss most about life here?

Seller: We will miss the home. It’s like being on vacation with the bar room, backyard oasis, and our evening wildlife watching. We wish we could bring it with us to Jacksonville.
