This episode of the Magic City Business podcast is amazing!
You will love the entrepreneurial spirit and relentless mindset of Battle Republic’s, Lindsey Miller.
The Magic City Business podcast is dedicated to celebrating the owners and innovators behind the best businesses in Birmingham, Alabama. In this episode, host Jason Will interviews Lindsey Miller, co-founder of startup company Campesino Rum and CEO and founder of Battle Republic, a boxing inspired fitness concept with two locations in the Birmingham area.
They discuss Lindsey’s venture into the entrepreneurial world, how she came to opening her own boutique gym and what motivates her in her career.
Diving into the conversation, Jason asks Lindsey to share her entrepreneurial journey that led her to creating Battle Republic. She describes Battle as a badass, boxing-inspired HIIT workout that is not only a great workout, but also helps people to reach their full potential. She then shares the meaning behind the company name and the inclusive, empowering culture that exists there.
Then, they dive into the competition faced when starting a fitness business given all the different types of popular gyms nowadays. Lindsey believes entrepreneurs in any field must have an almost unhealthy sense of self confidence in order to be successful. When looking at the fitness options in their area, Lindsey and her business partner felt there was something missing.
It was after touring several fitness concept spaces on a trip to New York that Lindsey knew for sure she wanted to open one of her own. She speaks of the fulfillment she has found in being an entrepreneur and the things that motivate her. To her, owning Battle Republic is much more than just providing a service for clients. Rather, it is a whole immersive experience and opportunity in which everyone can find what they are looking for.
