Making Your Real Estate Dreams a Reality!
New Year’s Eve 1984, at Mobile Infirmary Hospital, a cute bundle of joy arrived in the world a month early. Amanda (Sikes) Middleton just could not wait any longer to get life started! She grew up in the suburbs of Mobile and spent most of her childhood outdoors, curled up with a book, or practicing piano and singing. One week after graduating from Mary G Montgomery, Amanda received a call from Lee University’s world-renowned vocal group, Voices of Lee, offering her a scholarship and asking her to move to Tennessee to begin rehearsals for their Summer Tour. In true “Amanda fashion” she said "YES!” and began packing! Amanda spent the next few years traveling the country and eventually the world, singing with Voices of Lee and The Lee Singers. The traveling choir enabled her to see places many people only dream about, such as The Vatican and The Colosseum in Italy, The Opera House in Australia, and remote islands in Fiji. Nashville, TN eventually beckoned her, so Amanda left Cleveland for the much more fascinating Music City. She spent the next few years soaking up the culture, making life-long friends, and managing a high-end salon. In 2010, Amanda returned home to Mobile in order to live closer to family and await what life had in store for her next.
What happened next, she could have never anticipated! The women in Amanda’s family had always possessed a passion for culinary art, and Amanda was no different. She began spending Saturdays at the local market in Downtown Mobile's Cathedral Square selling her homemade cupcakes and gourmet dog treats. Amanda enjoyed such success that she quickly realized the need for a cupcake bakery in Mobile. A dream awakened in her and six months later she opened Mobile’s first cupcake shop, Twist Cupcakes—closely followed by two additional shops in West Mobile and the Eastern Shore. During that time, Food Network asked Amanda to audition for Cupcake Wars and Christmas Baking Championship; she also baked cupcakes for Duck Dynasty, Vince Gill, and Bobby Dean, as well as donated to local charities such as Prodisee Pantry, The Shoulder, 15 Place, Salvation Army, Mobile’s Junior League, many local school events, and more. Amanda truly cherishes the opportunities she had to participate in so many people’s special moments including weddings, proposals, baby showers, and anniversaries. But after over 6 years of owning a successful business, marrying in 2015, and expecting her first child, Amanda decided it was time to start a new adventure. Fortunately for JWRE, she chose real estate!
In 2013, Amanda’s life took a turn when she met her husband, Travis! The two married in April of 2015 in Mobile’s oldest and fully restored residence, Fort Conde Inn. The ceremony was held outside on the beautiful cobble streets and the Inn held an amazing array of food within. Amanda wanted her passion for food to be evident and to throw a truly great party for her guests. Amanda, her mother, and her aunt prepared all the wedding food themselves, and of course, Amanda herself baked enough sweet treats to fill an entire room! It was truly a night to remember for all who attended. Amanda and her husband are now expecting their first child in May of 2017 and cannot wait to hold and spoil their little girl! Surely Amanda will pass down her love of baking and cooking to their daughter as well.
Amanda and Travis spend their spare time traveling as often as possible, walking in Fairhope with their two beautiful dogs, Luna and Toto, trying new restaurants, camping (when Travis can convince Amanda that sleeping on the ground is “fun"!), and enjoying the beautiful Gulf Coast beaches. Travis spends his weekends honing his craft of photography as well as leading the production team at City Hope Church in Bay Minette; Amanda also shares her vocal talent at City Hope Church. These two stay busy, filling up their lives with as many beautiful memories as possible. Additionally, the couple carries a burden for a very real worldwide concern: human trafficking. Both Amanda and Travis work with an amazing nonprofit organization, Eye Heart World, that strives to spread awareness of the issue, educate, and provide safety for victims. The Middletons believe it to be an honor and duty to fight for those who cannot fight for themselves. If you have a moment, please check out the Eye Heart World website! www.eyeheartworld.org
Amanda’s strong eye for architecture and design makes her truly talented at transforming houses into homes. Entering real estate came very naturally for Amanda, as it allows her to use her talents and knowledge of the community to help clients find their perfect home. Nothing brings Amanda greater joy than bringing a smile to someone’s face…whether it be through cooking a meal, baking a sweet treat, or helping a client find a home to fill with memories. More than anything, Amanda wants to leave a legacy of deeply loving her family, working hard, constantly speaking love, and forever helping others.
